Fuisland Offset Printing Embarks on Renewable Energy Journey

Fuisland Offset Printing (Fuisland), an established one-stop print service provider in Singapore recently embarked on three energy deals with Singapore’s leading integrated clean energy solutions provider, Sunseap Group (Sunseap) to install a solar system, supply clean energy and install an energy-efficient LED lighting system as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives under to utilise 100% renewable energy.

Fuisland achieved its 100% renewable energy status via a combination of a 20-year agreement with Sunseap to install a 145.88 kilowatt-peak (kWp) solar system on its building and a separate energy contract to procure clean energy for its remaining energy requirements via Sunseap’s energy plans. The solar system is capable of generating approximately 170,382 kilowatt hour of electricity annually, equivalent to powering approximately 36 4-room HDB estates annually.

By producing its own renewable energy, Fuisland offsets its carbon footprint by approximately 178,901 pounds of coal, 11,927 gallons of oil or 71,424 kg of carbon dioxide, similar to planting 1,831 trees.

Mr Png Eng Lee, Managing Director of Fuisland Offset Printing, said: "This partnership with Sunseap Group is a significant step in sustainability for us. It is a unique opportunity for us to do more for the environment while continuing to provide the highest standards of quality and service to our customers. We encourage other small and medium-sized enterprises to find ways to be environmentally friendly in their businesses."

Fuisland also engaged Sunseap’s subsidiary, Sunseap Solutions to conduct a lighting energy audit and retrofitted its existing lighting system with an energy-efficient LED lighting system. The resulting benefit is a reduced energy consumption from lightings by over 50%.

Mr Png added that Fuisland is also using eco-friendly materials in their products such as using paper certified by the Forest Stewardship Council, an international certification which promotes responsible management of the world's forests, and vegetable-based inks derived from; soyabean, rice bran oil, linseed oil to substitute for petroleum, with the aim of reducing the amount Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC’s) released into the air during offset printing, which can deplete the ozone layer.

An advocate for environmental sustainability, Mr Png believes in leading by example and extends the same principle of environmental conservation to his personal life as well. He drives an electric car and he also plans to install solar panels for his house. As Fuisland's chief, Mr Png wants to lead by example and encourage his family, friends and employees to be more environmentally responsible.
